Zcash Pool Goes Live on THORChain Amid Scrutiny Over Bitget Hack

THORChain has launched its Zcash liquidity pool after completing a network-wide node churn on October 2. This marks another step in the protocol's expansion, following months of code upgrades and development.

The launch comes as THORChain faces scrutiny over its role in moving stolen funds linked to the Bitget hack, which saw around $387.5 million worth of assets moved through the network. The exchange had asked THORChain to block transactions from attacker-linked addresses, but the protocol declined, citing the need for a two-thirds consensus among node operators.

Liquidity is currently shallow in the new pool, and users are advised to exercise caution when trading Zcash. Trading has not yet begun, but it will follow the launch of the liquidity pool.
