Zcash Price Hits 8-Year High on Institutional Demand and Governance Vote
Zcash (ZEC) has made significant gains over the past week, increasing by more than 70% to reach an eight-year high of $885 before retreating below $820.
The price surge followed Grayscale's amended filing seeking to convert its Zcash Trust into a spot ETF listed on NYSE Arca under the ticker ZCSH. This development has attracted traders, particularly institutional ones, who are interested in gaining exposure to the privacy-focused cryptocurrency through a regulated brokerage product.
A separate event that may have contributed to the price increase is the NU7 governance vote, which determined voting eligibility based on shielded ZEC held during an August 24 network snapshot. The voting process aims to determine the scope of the planned NU7 network upgrade, including possible changes to Zcash's issuance schedule and block-production model.
Technical charts indicate that ZEC remains above the former $750 resistance level, but faces immediate resistance at $875. If buyers can break through this level, they may test the next upside barrier at $910 and then $937.50, which is a zone where the risk of a bearish reversal increases.
