Zcash Price Jumps 10% as NU7 Vote Backs Faster Blocks and Halvings
Zcash's price jumped over 10% following a governance vote by the NU7 community that favored faster block times and halvings. The NU7 vote saw nearly 2.4 million ZEC participate, exceeding the organizers' threshold of 1 million tokens.
The majority of voting ZECs agreed to reduce the block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, which can provide faster confirmation times for transactions and improved network performance. This change was approved by around 99.9% of participating ZECs.
In addition, around 98.9% of voting ZECs voted to maintain the same halving model, which will continue to decline mining rewards at periodic intervals. This decision maintains Zcash's monetary policy aligned with Bitcoin's fixed halving structure.
