Zcash Retreats from Eight-Year High Amid Grayscale's ETF Filing
Zcash has retreated from its eight-year high after Grayscale filed for an ETF that would track the privacy coin. The token's price surged to over $880 on August 23, a figure it hasn't seen since 2018. However, it began to decline and is now trading around $814.
The rally was sparked by Grayscale's amended registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which aims to list the Zcash Trust as an exchange-traded fund (ETF) on NYSE Arca under the ticker ZCSH. The shares are expected to start trading on or about August 25, pending regulatory approval.
The proposed ETF would be the first US-listed product tracking a privacy coin, a class of assets that have been largely avoided by regulators due to concerns over money laundering and sanctions evasion. Zcash's use of zero-knowledge cryptography makes it appealing to investors seeking financial privacy.
