Zcash Rockets Past $1,500 as Governance Vote and Institutional Demand Soar
Zcash has been on an incredible tear lately, reaching new heights and surpassing $1,500 in value. This surge can be attributed to several factors, including the results of the Network Upgrade 7 governance vote.
The vote saw a staggering 99.9% of participating tokens vote in favor of reduced block times, which will lead to faster transaction confirmations and a more responsive network. Additionally, 98.9% supported retaining Bitcoin-style halvings as Zcash's emission schedule going forward.
Grayscale's ZCSH exchange-traded product has also played a significant role in the token's rise. With approximately $727 million in assets accumulated in just three weeks, institutional money is clearly flowing into Zcash through this channel.
The Federal Reserve's interest rate hike and subsequent short liquidations in crypto derivatives markets have also contributed to the upward pressure on ZEC. The compounding effect of these factors has pushed the token's price above $1,500, with reported 24-hour gains ranging from 13% to 23%.
