Zcash Sees Surge in Demand as AI Threatens Blockchain Privacy
Grayscale's Head of Research, Zach Pandl, believes that artificial intelligence (AI) will create new privacy threats and drive demand for solutions. This could have significant implications for blockchain technology, particularly public blockchains like Bitcoin.
Pandl notes that AI tools will make it easier to link on-chain and off-chain information, potentially de-anonymizing user addresses. This risk is already present in the Bitcoin network, where every transaction is recorded on a public ledger and can be viewed by anyone.
Unlike Bitcoin, Zcash offers additional privacy features through shielded transactions. These use zero-knowledge cryptography to conceal both the addresses involved in a transaction and the amount being transferred.
Grayscale sees this feature as a 'must-have' for users who prioritize financial privacy. The firm also notes that Zcash's current valuation may not fully reflect its potential, leaving room for further gains.
