Zcash Shielded Transactions Soar to Four-Year High Amid $23 Billion Transfer Volume

Zcash's shielded transactions have reached a four-year high, with over 62,000 private transactions processed last week. This surge in activity comes as the network settled $23.88 billion in transfer volume, more than twice the peak seen during its late-2025 rally.

The recent increase in shielded transactions is a notable trend, especially considering that for most of this year, the weekly counts remained flat between 8,000 to 12,000. August marked a turning point, with shielded transactions pushing past 15,000 and reaching close to 48,000 in early September.

The $23 billion settled in a single week is a significant milestone, with only one other week in Zcash's history seeing a higher transfer volume. However, it's worth noting that part of this figure can be attributed to the token's price increase, which has seen ZEC climb six times its spring value.

The 2022 record, while impressive, comes with an asterisk due to a spam attack that flooded the network with junk transactions and slowed wallet sync. One strong week is also a thin sample, as shielded activity dropped to about 28,000 transactions in the following week before rebounding.
