Zcash Soars 2496%, But Is the Rally Ending or Just Beginning?
Zcash has seen an astonishing surge of 2,496% this year, catapulting it to become the seventh-largest cryptocurrency globally by market capitalization. What's driving this extraordinary rise?
Just eleven months ago, Zcash was ranked a modest 82nd in terms of market cap. It was once considered a relic from the 2016 privacy coin era, thoroughly abandoned after surviving three brutal bear markets.
The turning point came with Grayscale's successful conversion of its Zcash Trust into a publicly listed spot ETF on the NYSE Arca platform (ticker: ZCSH). This milestone opened the floodgates for compliant institutional capital access, which previously had no legal pathway to build ZEC positions.
Regulatory clouds also lifted as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) investigation into the Zcash Foundation concluded in January 2026 with no enforcement actions taken. This removed a significant barrier limiting demand for the asset.
