Zcash Soars Past $1,000 as Bullish Momentum Continues to Build
Zcash has made its first appearance above $1,000 in nearly a decade, riding a wave of bullish momentum in the crypto market. The surge has seen ZEC climb by over 100% in just one month, with prices briefly touching $1,045 on Friday.
The push to four figures is attributed to several factors, including the launch of Grayscale's US-listed Zcash ETF in late August, which opened up exposure to traditional investors. The fund has attracted fresh inflows and holds over 400,000 ZEC.
Demand for privacy-focused cryptocurrencies has also returned, with more ZEC moving into shielded pools. Technical upgrades have made private transactions faster, while derivatives traders have contributed to the rally.
However, leverage has continued building after the squeeze, with total ZEC open interest climbing towards $2.4 billion. This has led some analysts to caution that a pullback could turn into a rapid liquidation event if funding rates become heavily positive and too many traders are crowded into leveraged long positions.
