Zcash Support Arrives on THORChain Amidst Hack Dispute

THORChain has opened a Zcash (ZEC) liquidity pool on its platform, but users cannot trade native ZEC yet. The protocol warned that liquidity is shallow in the new pool and will build over time.

The integration of ZEC was a long process that began with a March 4 protocol upgrade adding chain-specific UTXO handling and RPC logic. A subsequent GitLab change corrected how ZEC network fees and solvency were reported, while another THORNode merge fixed signing inconsistencies caused by different local chain tips.

The launch comes amidst a hack dispute involving Bitget, which has accused THORChain of failing to block specific attacker addresses. The exchange said unauthorized transfers began on September 24 and that the value sent to attacker-controlled addresses is approximately $387.5 million.
