Zcash Surges 217% in Value, But Is It a Safe Bet?
Bitcoin's recent surge has overshadowed other cryptocurrencies, but one notable exception is Zcash. Over the past year, Zcash has skyrocketed by an impressive 217% in value, with a 30-day increase of 90%. However, its long-term chart reveals that for most of its existence, Zcash's price has remained relatively flat.
Despite this, there are some promising catalysts driving Zcash's growth. The launch of the Grayscale Zcash ETF at the end of August has attracted over $500 million from investors, and the increasing popularity of 'privacy coins' - which enable users to shield their blockchain wallet addresses and transaction details - is also contributing to its rise.
However, experts warn that privacy coins like Zcash are not intended for long-term investments. They were designed to facilitate anonymous online transactions, but this has raised questions about their legal and regulatory implications. For short-term traders, Zcash may be worth a closer look, but long-term investors may want to exercise caution.
