Zcash Surges 23% After Fed Rate Hike and Community Governance Vote
Zcash (ZEC) experienced a significant price surge after the Federal Reserve announced a 0.25% increase to its benchmark rate, which was seen as a sign of measured policy tightening.
The interest rate hike was followed by a community governance vote on Zcash's NU7 protocol changes, with nearly 2.4 million ZEC tokens participating in the ballot.
An overwhelming majority of participants voted to accelerate block generation time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, with 99.9% supporting the change.
The price surge coincided with Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang's statement on X, where he revealed his firm's ZEC position and described it as 'a private complement to Bitcoin.'
