Zcash Surges Amid Short Squeeze and Bullish Narratives
Zcash has surged 3.45% in the last ~31 hours due to a short squeeze on crowded shorts, amplified by speculative leverage and fresh governance and ETF-driven bullish narratives.
The short squeeze is attributed to ZEC breaking through $1,500 to a high near $1,521, triggering more than $51 million of short liquidations in a single day. Hyperliquid, Binance, and Bybit accounted for the bulk of forced closures, with individual losses reaching almost $7 million.
The surge is also driven by several coin-specific narrative catalysts, including overwhelmingly positive NU7 governance vote results that accelerate blocks without debasing supply, public endorsement of Zcash's dev fund and long-term design by Paradigm cofounder Matt Huang, and ongoing structural demand from the new Grayscale Zcash ETF.
Additionally, attractive mining economics reinforce the bullish narrative as miners currently earn roughly twice the daily revenue per machine and four times the revenue per megawatt hour of power compared with Bitcoin miners. This signals a secure and growing network, giving miners less incentive to sell aggressively at each bounce.
