Zcash Surpasses Hyperliquid in August Rally as Regulatory Favour Boosts Price
Zcash made significant gains in August, reaching an eight-year high of $888. In contrast, Hyperliquid's price rose about 50% over the same period. The two assets have different drivers behind their rallies.
The Zcash rally is attributed to the launch of Grayscale's ZCSH ETF on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Arca. This trust was first introduced as a private placement in October 2017 and has since become publicly traded. The news has boosted investor confidence, contributing to ZEC's price increase.
The potential for Zcash to rival Bitcoin is also being touted by Grayscale. According to the firm, ZEC's fixed supply and privacy features make it an attractive option in the cryptocurrency market. Tyler Winklevoss of Gemini Space Station Inc. also highlighted the limited supply of ZEC, stating that there are more millionaires than whole units of the token.
In contrast, Hyperliquid's gains can be attributed to a combination of regulatory signals and internal protocol changes. President Donald Trump's statement on bringing Hyperliquid into the US in a 'fully compliant and legal fashion' contributed to HYPE's price increase. Additionally, the activation of its Aligned Quote Asset v2 framework has seen revenue recognized in 30-day cycles.
The ranking between ZEC and HYPE has flipped year-to-date, with HYPE up over 219% versus a 58.5% gain for ZEC.
