Zcash's $1,600 Price Reversal Leaves Monero as Steady Choice
Zcash recently reached $1,600 but lost 6% of its value in one day. The cryptocurrency's surge to this price is a significant event, especially considering it has been trading at a lower valuation for most of its history.
The NU7 upgrade for Zcash was voted on by holders, with 99.9% approving the change from a 75-second block time to 25 seconds. This will allow for quicker transaction confirmations and maintain the halving schedule that impacts new coin issuance.
In contrast, Monero's price only dipped by 1.5%, settling at $561. Zcash's market capitalization is more than double that of Monero's at $25.8 billion versus $10.5 billion.
