ZEC Surges Past $1,000 as Market Value Hits $16.5 Billion
Zcash, the privacy-focused cryptocurrency, has temporarily broken above $1,000 in value for the first time, propelling it into the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.
The price surge was driven by a significant increase in trading volume, which jumped 173% to $1.62 billion over the past 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap data.
Zcash's market value has reached $16.5 billion, making it one of the largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. However, the price has since fallen back below $1,000, reaching around $981 at the time of writing.
The cryptocurrency has been on a continuous upward trend since August, when its price was below $500. The broader crypto market's recovery has also contributed to Zcash's recent gains.
