ZetaChain Abandons Its Own Blockchain in Favor of Solana for AI-Focused Future
ZetaChain token holders have voted to sunset their own blockchain and migrate ZETA to Solana. The proposal, which passed with 99.4% of the vote, was put forward as part of a larger plan to focus on consumer AI products rather than connecting blockchains.
The decision marks a significant shift in direction for the project, which raised $27 million three years ago to pursue its original goal. Instead, ZetaChain's team has been developing Anuma, a private multi-model AI app with over 300,000 users and 35 AI models.
According to the proposal, ZETA will be converted into a native Solana SPL token at a 1:1 rate. The migration is expected to take place once exchanges have confirmed swap agreements. Staking on the old chain continues for now, although the team has announced that it's still working out how staking and rewards will work on Solana.
The decision to abandon its own blockchain was motivated by the need to reduce overhead costs and focus on AI development. The team cited the benefits of using a established platform like Solana, which has a proven track record in scalability and security.
