ZetaChain Tokenholders Overwhelmingly Vote to Abandon Layer 1 and Move to Solana
ZetaChain has made a significant decision regarding its blockchain infrastructure. The tokenholders voted overwhelmingly in favor of shutting down the Layer 1 blockchain and migrating to Solana, with 99.4% voting yes. This move is aimed at supporting ZetaChain's private AI app, Anuma, which has gained over 300,000 users since its launch in February.
The team behind ZetaChain believes that Solana already provides the necessary infrastructure for Anuma, including access to models and computing resources. They argue that maintaining an independent Layer 1 is no longer beneficial as it comes with security concerns and patching issues. The proposed move will see ZETA become a native Solana SPL token, with the same ticker and total supply.
The price of ZETA reacted positively to the vote, gaining 81% over the week, trading at around US$0.065 at the time of writing. Although the actual shutdown date is yet to be determined, this decision marks a significant shift in ZetaChain's strategy, focusing on Anuma as its primary application layer.
