Zeus Wallet Takes Down Infrastructure After Cyberattack

Zeus Wallet, a self-custodial Bitcoin Lightning Network wallet, has taken its infrastructure offline following a cyberattack on August 5, 2026. The company's founder, Evan Kaloudis, confirmed that no customer funds were lost or at risk during the incident.

The attack was detected within hours, and Zeus decided to keep services offline while it completes a comprehensive systems audit. This decision was made to ensure the security of its users' assets. As the wallet operates on a self-custodial model, customers hold their own funds rather than relying on the company to hold them.

Zeus has not disclosed how attackers gained access to its systems or if any vulnerability was found in the Bitcoin Lightning Network node software. Affected users with closed Lightning Service Provider channels will receive replacement channels once services resume and requests can be processed.
