Zhao Denies Moving Markets with Tweets, Says Crypto Market Has Room for Growth
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao has addressed speculation that his tweets move crypto markets. He denied having the power to manipulate prices, saying he tweets bullish content five to ten times daily and had no advance knowledge of Trump's speech on crypto.
Zhao explained that a tweet about taking action today to build a better future was simply a coincidence rather than insider timing. The tweet was made while Zhao was on the road and came from reading a quote, which he adapted into crypto commentary.
Zhao pointed out that if he tweets five times daily, one of those tweets will coincide with positive news, as happened in this case. He also argued that the $3 trillion crypto market is 'nowhere near saturated', citing global adoption figures that suggest crypto penetration remains under 1% worldwide.
Zhao acknowledged that retail investors can face challenges when competing against paid promotion, but said it's not impossible for them to win. He noted that protecting retail investors requires a combination of factors, including encouraging founders to act responsibly, educating users on fundamentals rather than hype, and building out regulatory disclosure requirements.
