Zondacrypto Collapse Exposes Polish Politics and Money Laundering
Polish cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto has collapsed, leaving thousands of customers without access to their funds. The estimated losses are at least 2.4 billion zlotys (approximately 535 million euros). An investigation into possible fraud and money laundering is underway.
The collapse has sparked a major financial and political scandal in Poland. Investigators are examining whether the exchange used funding, gifts, and lobbying contacts to secure political protection. The focus has fallen on representatives of Poland's political and business circles, including the right-wing Law and Justice party.
President Karol Nawrocki vetoed two bills intended to regulate the cryptocurrency market in line with European Union requirements. These decisions are now being examined in the context of possible links between Zondacrypto and Poland's right wing.
