Zondacrypto Implosion Leaves Customers Stranded as Two Executives Vanish
The Eastern and Central European cryptocurrency market has been shaken by the catastrophic implosion of Zondacrypto, a former titan in the region. The exchange's website went dark in April, and its proprietary token, ZND, has lost an astonishing 99.9 percent of its value.
At the center of this saga are two consecutive chief executives who have mysteriously disappeared from the same exchange within four years. Sylwester Suszek, the founder of Zondacrypto, was a flashy 'crypto king' who lived large with luxury vehicles, including Porsches and a Ferrari. He moved the exchange's registration to Estonia due to local regulatory scrutiny, but his fears were justified after an unidentified assailant smashed the windshield of his Ferrari with an ax.
Suszek vanished in March 2022, and his last known location was a fuel depot in Czeladz, Poland, where he met with associate Marian Wszolek. Suszek's sister sent harrowing voice and text messages, in which he begged for Bitcoin to secure his release, claiming his captors were threatening to cut off his fingers over a debt.
Following Suszek's disappearance, Przemyslaw Kral took the reins as chief executive and rebranded the exchange as Zondacrypto. However, things were not so bright behind the scenes. The company's headquarters in Estonia was revealed to be an abandoned office, and Estonian regulators cracked down on the exchange.
By late 2025, customers began experiencing severe delays in withdrawing their funds, which Kral initially attributed to technical glitches. Later, he claimed that Sylwester Suszek (the missing founder) was the only person who could unlock 4,500 Bitcoins (worth roughly $330 million) safely in reserve.
Today, Zondacrypto clients are left stranded, and the entire operation is believed to be a long-running scam.
