Zondacrypto Investigation Uncovers Alleged Links to Polish Opposition Politicians
Prosecutors in Poland are investigating possible criminal offenses related to financing by Zondacrypto, a cryptocurrency firm that collapsed earlier this year. The company's oversight board resigned last week and many users claim they cannot access their funds.
The investigation involves alleged links between Zondacrypto and conservative opposition politicians and organizations. Among those named in the investigation are Zbigniew Ziobro, a deputy leader of Poland's main opposition party Law and Justice (PiS), and the Polish edition of CPAC, an American conservative political conference.
According to prosecutor general Waldemar Żurek, investigators have secured extensive evidence, questioned numerous witnesses, and carried out proceedings involving suspects who have already been formally charged. However, he declined to identify them or disclose the charges.
