Zumo Unveils Crypto Regulation Tracker Amid FCA Deadline Looms
UK crypto-as-a-service platform Zumo has launched a new UK Cryptoasset Regulation Tracker to help firms navigate the complex regulatory landscape. The tracker aims to simplify the process of complying with incoming regulations, which are set to take effect on October 25, 2027.
The Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) authorisation gateway opens on September 30, and firms are advised to submit applications by February 2027 to avoid limitations on operations or wind-down plans. A survey conducted by Zumo found that half of cryptoasset service providers serving UK customers are concerned about financial penalties or regulatory sanctions.
With the rules scattered across policy statements and FCA Handbook sourcebooks, many firms struggle to determine which regulations apply to them. The new tracker maps timelines for regulatory milestones and provides a clear list of actions required by each type of business activity.
Zumo's founder and CEO Nick Jones said that other regime trackers are often created by law firms or consultancies, but stop short of providing actionable guidance. 'We're developing our Tracker as industry operators,' he explained. 'Building it has meant reading the regime rules right down to the level of every individual obligation, mapping each one to the regulated activity it attaches to.'
