15-Year High Interest Rates Slam Australian Mortgage Holders
Mortgage holders are facing significant increases in their monthly repayments due to expected interest rates reaching a 15-year high. This has been attributed to the Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) decision to raise borrowing costs, making it more expensive for individuals and families to borrow money.
RBA governor Michele Bullock suggested that unemployment needs to be higher to curb inflation, implying that the current economic conditions are unsustainable. As a result, mortgage holders can expect to pay hundreds of dollars more per month compared to the start of the year.
