$150 Trillion Global Economy on Track for 2030
The global economy is projected to reach $150 trillion by 2030, according to forecasts from the International Monetary Fund's World Economic Outlook. The United States will remain the world's largest economy, with a projected nominal gross domestic product (GDP) of $37.7 trillion, followed closely by China at $26 trillion.
Germany and India are virtually tied for third place, separated by just $5 billion. India's economy is expected to continue growing rapidly, potentially surpassing Germany in the near future. When adjusted for purchasing power parity, India's economy is already roughly three times the size of Germany's.
The Asia-Pacific region will be a major driver of global economic growth, accounting for over a third of the world's total output by 2030. Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia are projected to have significant economies in the region, with nominal GDPs of $5 trillion, $2.3 trillion, and $2.1 trillion respectively.
Europe will also play an important role in the global economy, with a combined nominal GDP of over $37 trillion by 2030. The European Union member countries are expected to account for roughly a fifth of the global economy, led by Germany, France, and Italy.
