$28.86 Billion Trade Surplus: Switzerland's Economy Bounces Back
Switzerland's trade surplus has nearly doubled in the second quarter of this year, according to data released by the Swiss National Bank. The country's trade surplus grew to $28.86 billion (23.7 billion Swiss francs) during the three-month period.
The significant increase was driven primarily by increased goods trade, with Switzerland recording a substantial surplus of nearly 30 billion francs in this area. In contrast, the country posted a deficit of 4.4 billion francs for services.
The current account surplus marked the widest level since the first quarter of last year, reflecting the recovery of Switzerland's export-focused economy. The economy faced challenges from higher tariffs imposed by the United States in the previous year.
