7 Foreign Currencies So Beautiful They Belong in Your Travel Album
When travelers return from their trips, they often have a few souvenirs in mind - postcards, magnets, coffee, and crafts. However, there's one unique souvenir that might be hiding in plain sight: foreign currency.
The Times of India recently highlighted seven currencies around the world that are so beautifully designed, they're worth keeping as souvenirs rather than exchanging them for local currency. The Seychelles Rupee is a standout example, featuring rare wildlife and dramatic landscapes on its banknotes.
Each denomination showcases species found across the archipelago, including the Seychelles Black Paradise Flycatcher, Seychelles Sunbird, and tiger chameleon. Even the updated SCR500 note, introduced in December 2025, continues the biodiversity theme with a holographic stripe depicting a sea turtle swimming through waves.
Other currencies featured include the Swiss Franc, Costa Rican Colón, Bermudian Dollar, New Zealand Dollar, Norwegian Krone, and Mexican Peso. Each one celebrates its country's unique identity through abstract ideas, visual storytelling, and stunning designs that make them feel like miniature artworks.
