Aeon Enters Low-Cost Denim Market with $6.35 Jeans
Aeon Co., Japan's retail giant, has launched denim jeans priced at 1,000 yen ($6.35) excluding tax in an attempt to attract customers amid a growing consumer trend to save due to rising prices.
The price is about one-third that of conventional denim and marks the latest move by retailers to offer cheaper jeans following Don Quijote's launch of 999 yen jeans in February.
Aeon Retail Co.'s private brand 'Topvalu' produces the low-cost denim in a Cambodian factory, offering it in straight and wide styles for ladies, with six sizes available for each. Men's jeans are also available in a regular fit, with 18 sizes available.
