AfD Leader Seeks Eurozone Exit, Tightens Migrant Controls
AfD leader Alice Weidel has called for Germany to leave the eurozone, citing its instability and weakness as reasons. In an interview with ZDF, she stated that 'the euro is an unstable and weak currency,' which has led to job losses for Germans.
Weidel also emphasized her party's tough stance on migration, aiming to close Germany's borders and withdraw from the Schengen Agreement. She claimed that 1.3 million Syrians living in Germany will be returned to their homeland.
The AfD party currently holds 27% support in Germany, surpassing the Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU), which has 22%. The party's goal is to achieve strong results in Saxony-Anhalt's state parliamentary elections in September to create momentum for a future national victory.
