Agriculture Politicians Share Visions for Southern Rural Communities

New Zealand's agricultural politicians shared their visions for southern rural communities at a recent panel discussion in Parliament.

Andrew Hoggard of ACT Party stated that farmers, growers, and rural communities are the backbone of New Zealand's economy. He emphasized that his party understands the importance of these groups and has walked the talk by not proposing emissions pricing on farmers or voting against the Zero Carbon Act.

Hoggard added that taxing the world's most emissions-efficient farmers won't change the climate but will make food more expensive and push production into less efficient countries. He also highlighted that ACT will permanently keep agriculture out of the Emissions Trading Scheme.
