Air Canada and Air Transat Expand Winter Sun Routes
Air Canada and Air Transat are expanding their transatlantic routes this winter. The two carriers will introduce five new destinations, targeting leisure travelers seeking sun-kissed getaways.
The new services include weekly flights from Montréal to Tenerife South starting October 31st and twice-weekly flights from Toronto also beginning on the same date. Air Transat will add weekly flights from both cities to Gran Canaria in mid-December, while twice-weekly service between Montréal and Istanbul kicks off on October 29th.
The route additions reflect a strategy focused on capturing winter sun traffic using narrowbody long-haul aircraft, such as the Airbus A321LR. Air Canada's A321XLRs offer seating for up to 182 passengers, including 14 business seats and 168 economy seats. Air Transat's A321LRs carry 12 business and 187 economy seats.
The expanded routes will provide travelers with more nonstop options to the Canary Islands and Istanbul, reducing connections and saving time. As these seasonal routes have limited weekly frequencies, booking early is advised, especially during peak winter months.
