Air Canada Boosted by Skytrax Wins Amid Ongoing Near-Term Risks
Air Canada (TSX:AC) recently received two Skytrax World Airline Awards, solidifying its position as Best Airline in North America for a second consecutive year. In addition to this recognition, Air Canada's Toronto Signature Suite dining, cabin crew in Canada, and economy catering in North America also won awards.
The cluster of service awards suggests that Air Canada's investment in premium cabins, lounges, and onboard experience is resonating with high-yield travelers. This reinforces the company's focus on premium revenue mix and loyalty economics.
According to analysts, Air Canada's premium push could be a powerful accelerator for growth. They are forecasting CA$28.8b of revenue and earnings of CA$566.8m by 2029, with yearly revenue growth of 6.8% and an increase in earnings of about CA$136.8m from CA$430.0m today.
The awards do not change the near-term watchpoints for Air Canada's investors, which include labor inflation, higher interest costs, and yield pressure on key long-haul routes. However, they do support the company's positioning as a premium airline with a strong international footprint.
