Air New Zealand Brings Lie-Flat Economy Seats for Ultra-Long Flights

Air New Zealand is rolling out its Skynest pods in economy class for long-haul flights. These lie-flat spaces, which can be booked alongside a standard seat, are available on select Boeing 787-9 and 777-300ER aircraft.

The Skynest pods offer an alternative to premium seating for budget-conscious flyers on ultra-long routes, but don't come with the perks of upgrading to business or first class. Passengers must reserve both a regular economy seat and a pod, which can be accessed during cruise only.

Pricing for the Skynest pods starts at $292, varying by route and demand. The airline plans to expand its Skynest fleet to more aircraft and routes after initial feedback.
