Air New Zealand Unveils Lie-Flat Sleep Pods for Economy Flyers

Air New Zealand has introduced a revolutionary new feature for economy flyers: lie-flat sleep pods called Economy Skynest. These pods will debut on Auckland to New York flights from mid-December 2026, priced at AUD$495 per four-hour session.

The pods are designed to provide a comfortable rest option for economy and premium economy passengers without breaking the bank. Each pod features a full-length mattress, fresh bedding, and individual air vents, as well as ambient lighting and personal stowage.

Air New Zealand's Chief Customer Officer Jeremy O'Brien said that the airline is proud to offer this innovative feature, which aims to make long-haul flights more comfortable for passengers. 'A good sleep can make a huge difference to how someone feels when they arrive at their destination,' he said.
