Albanese Calls for Stronger International Cooperation Amid Global Challenges
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has emphasized the need for stronger international cooperation to address global challenges. Speaking at the Partners for Multilateralism, International Law, Peace and Prosperity (P4M) Summit at the United Nations in New York, he warned that countries acting alone cannot solve these problems.
The world is facing a period of serious challenges, including conflicts in the Middle East and Europe, inflation, energy pressures, and the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, Albanese noted. He highlighted Australia's campaign for a seat on the UN Security Council for the 2029-30 term, which was launched a day earlier.
The Prime Minister emphasized that middle powers have a responsibility to play a stronger role through partnerships on economic resilience, development finance, maritime security, climate action, and emerging technologies. He also highlighted Australia's support for Pacific nations, particularly in addressing development and security challenges and the impacts of climate change.
