Alberta's Economic Lifeline: Trade with Rest of Canada Supports 330,000 Jobs

A recent study from University of Calgary economist Trevor Tombe found that roughly 330,000 jobs in Alberta are supported by trade with the rest of Canada.

The study, commissioned by the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, suggests that separation would be 'economic suicide' for both Alberta and the rest of the country.

Tombe estimates that if separation made trading with the rest of Canada more expensive, Alberta's economy could shrink by billions of dollars a year in one scenario.
