AllUnity Enters USD Stablecoin Market with USDAU Launch
European stablecoin issuer AllUnity has launched its new USD stablecoin USDAU. This new addition to their lineup is pegged to the US dollar and maintains a 1:1 ratio through segregated reserves. The token will be available on multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, Base, Tempo, Arc, and Polygon.
AllUnity, regulated under the EU's MiCA framework, already issues euro-backed EURAU, Swiss franc-backed CHFAU, and Swedish krona-backed SEKAU stablecoins. CoinGecko estimates the market capitalization of EURAU at around $400,000 and CHFAU at approximately $45 million.
The launch comes as European policymakers discuss the implications of dollar-pegged token dominance. US dollar-pegged tokens account for over 99% of the global stablecoin market by capitalization, worth around $291 billion according to CoinGecko.
AllUnity CEO Alexander Höptner countered concerns about the dollar's central role in this debate: 'Europe's concern isn't with the dollar, it's with dollar liquidity flowing through offshore issuers.' He argued that USDAU brings dollar liquidity within Europe's regulatory perimeter and provides European companies access to dollars for global trade.
