Asian Stocks Tumble on Oil Surge, Elevated Yields

Asian stocks took a hit on Thursday as investors grew nervous about oil prices topping $100 a barrel and rising bond yields, ahead of key U.S. inflation data.

The selling followed a weaker Wall Street session, with all major benchmarks ending in the red.

The region's stock indices pared some early losses after oil prices ticked lower on Thursday, while the U.S. also edged down, providing some relief.

Japan's Nikkei 225 index traded 0.1% lower, after falling nearly 1% earlier in the day, weighed down by a sharply stronger yen and investors' increased bets on a Bank of Japan rate hike this month.
