Atlantic Provinces Urged to Merge Economies for Greater Prosperity

A recent report from the Atlantic Economic Panel recommends that the four provinces of Canada's Atlantic region merge their economies to achieve greater prosperity.

The panel, made up of well-known business leaders, released a 181-page report on Friday highlighting the potential benefits of a single economy for the region.

The report warns that without action from provincial governments, businesses, and residents, its recommendations will be worthless.

Former New Brunswick Premier Frank McKenna agrees with the panel's proposal, saying there is enough political will to make it happen.

McKenna notes that the premiers are motivated by ongoing provincial budget deficits and damage from the Canada-US trade war.
