AUD/JPY Bounces Back on Rate Differential Optimism
The Australian dollar has continued to rally against the Japanese yen in recent days, despite some initial pullbacks. This is largely due to the ongoing interest rate differential between the two countries, with Australia's rates remaining higher than Japan's.
In a recent trading session, the AUD/JPY pair initially declined but quickly rebounded as market participants became more optimistic about the potential reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. However, it is worth noting that previous rumors about this have been disappointing, so caution should be exercised.
The interest rate differential between Australia and Japan remains significant, with the Australian dollar facing relatively low borrowing costs compared to its Japanese counterpart. Furthermore, the recent interest rate hike in Japan was not universally supported, with two members of the central bank dissenting from the decision.
From a technical perspective, the AUD/JPY pair is currently trading within a well-defined range of 500 points. The 200-day EMA sits just above the ¥110 level, and so far, this market does not appear to want to break below it.
