AUD/JPY Hits Multi-Decade Highs Amid RBA Hawkishness
The Australian Dollar (AUD) against the Japanese Yen (JPY) continues to trade above its key moving averages, maintaining positive momentum in both the short and long term. The pair's current price of ¥112.22 represents a modest gain from previous trading.
According to recent analysis, the AUD/JPY is near multi-decade highs due to the Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) hawkish stance, which has attracted capital flows into the Australian Dollar. This trend is also attributed to the fading effects of the joint US-Japan currency intervention on July 31, 2023, which had temporarily propped up the yen using the Federal Reserve's FIMA Repo Facility.
While AUD/JPY remains in a bullish position, overbought conditions signal a risk of near-term pullback. Technical indicators, such as the Ichimoku Kijun line at ¥111.48 and the Moving Averages (MA-20, MA-50), provide immediate support for the pair.
Analysts predict that AUD/JPY will consolidate within a range of ¥111.66 to ¥112.78 in the short term, reflecting typical volatility bands. A break above this upper limit could lead to further bullish extension and fresh highs, while a drop below the Kijun support would indicate a deeper retracement.
