AUD/JPY Volatility Ahead of RBA Decision
The Australian dollar has been experiencing volatility against the Japanese yen on Monday, with prices oscillating around the ¥110 level. This area is significant due to its psychological importance and proximity to the 200-day EMA. The interest rate differential between Australia and Japan is a major driver of this market.
Australia's central bank will make an interest rate decision tonight, which could have a substantial impact on the AUD/JPY pair. Traders are uncertain about whether the currency pair will remain in its current range or break down below ¥109.
Technical analyst Christopher Lewis believes that breaking down below ¥109 would be a significant move, but he doesn't see it happening without Bank of Japan intervention. If the Australian central bank sounds hawkish, Lewis expects the market to move towards the 50-day EMA around ¥112.
If the AUD/JPY pair breaks above ¥112, it could potentially reach ¥115. Lewis still favors an upside movement in this market but acknowledges that central-bank noise may create short-term difficulties.
