AUD/USD Trading Flat After RBA Rate Hike, Inflation Concerns Weigh

The Australian Dollar has been trading flat against the US dollar at $0.6951, slipping modestly on the day.

This comes after the Reserve Bank of Australia raised its cash rate by 25 basis points to 4.6%, marking the highest level in 15 years.

The increase was expected to boost interest rate differentials and increase the appeal of the Australian Dollar, but Governor Bullock noted that a pause was considered and further tightening may be unnecessary if inflation continues to trend lower.

This has tempered expectations of continued monetary tightening and contributed to subdued sentiment for the currency.
