August Jobs Report Surprises with Strong Growth
The U.S. payroll employment report for August showed a significant improvement from previous months, exceeding expectations.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nonfarm payrolls increased by 162,000 in August, with upward revisions to both June and July's numbers.
This marks a notable rebound from two consecutive months of weak employment reports.
The average gain over the past three months rose to 71,000, while the six-month average increase jumped to 106,000, indicating a modest uptrend.
Private-sector payrolls also showed a significant increase in August, rising by 127,000 against an expected gain of 46,000.
