Australia's share market posted its second consecutive day of gains on Thursday, following a US interest rate hike that calmed bond market jitters.

The S&P/ASX200 rose 35.9 points, up 0.41 per cent, to 8,732.4, while the broader All Ordinaries gained 36.4 points, or 0.41 per cent, to 8,910.9.

The US Federal Reserve's decision to raise interest rates for the first time in three years helped ease long-dated yields from multi-decade highs.
