Australia Becomes Hub for Payment Experience Innovation
Australia has become a hub for testing and refining new payment experiences before launching them globally. The country's demographics, comparable to major Western economies but on a smaller scale, make it an ideal place for experimentation and product refinement.
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) found that contactless payments are used for almost all in-person transactions, rendering cash obsolete. Australians are making more than 500 million mobile wallet transactions every month, totaling over $20 billion in value.
Firms such as Trade Nation and Pepperstone have introduced real-time payments through Volt's New Payments Platform (NPP) to their Australian customers. These platforms value the ability to fund accounts whenever opportunities arise, rather than being constrained by traditional banking hours.
