Australian Bond Yield Breaks Key Technical Level
Australia's bond yield has been trending upwards since 2020, driven by concerns over global inflation. The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has taken a hawkish stance on interest rates, which is contributing to this trend.
This increase in the 10-year government bond yield has reversed a long-term decline and surpassed the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement level of 4.3142% in November 2025. Reaching such technical levels is often seen as a bullish signal, indicating a potential continuation of the upward trend.
As yields approach the 2011 high of 5.7650%, investors are eyeing the next Fibonacci retracement at 6.6429%. However, there's also a significant resistance level from 2008 at 6.8180% that looms in their path.
