EURUSD Stuck in Hawkish Monetary Policy Deadlock
The EURUSD currency pair has entered a state of equilibrium, trading flat at 1.1622 as of September 7, 2026.
This stability hides a deeper narrative of competing hawkish monetary policies from the US Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank (ECB), responding to robust economic data in their respective regions.
The strong US labor market data, with an increase of 162,000 jobs in August nearly triple the consensus estimate, has pushed the probability of a Federal Reserve interest rate hike in September to 58.4%.
The ECB's hawkish stance is also evident, as Eurozone inflation accelerated to 3.3%, driven largely by soaring energy prices.
