Australian Dollar Holds Steady Against Vietnamese Dong Amid RBA Rate Hike
The Australian Dollar (AUD) is trading relatively flat against the Vietnamese Dong (VND), with the AUD/VND pair currently priced at ₫18,121, showing a modest daily gain of 0.48%. This positioning above key moving averages on the hourly chart suggests a short-term upward momentum.
The Reserve Bank of Australia recently raised its policy interest rate by 0.25 percentage points to 4.6%, a 15-year high. This move increases the interest rate differential, making Australian Dollar assets more attractive for yield-focused investors. The rate hike has contributed to ongoing demand for the AUD/VND pair.
Technically, the AUD/VND has cleared the MA-20 at ₫18,079 and MA-50 at ₫18,046 on the hourly chart but remains below the MA-200 at ₫18,533. The Ichimoku Kijun at ₫18,072 acts as immediate support. While indicators like MACD, RSI, and CCI signal a buy, Stoch RSI and Bull/Bear Power suggest an overbought condition, highlighting mixed momentum.
Looking ahead, the AUD/VND is expected to consolidate within a range of ₫18,031 to ₫18,212 over the next 2-3 trading days. There is a 71% probability of a move higher if resistance is broken, but a failure at support could push the pair toward the lower end of the forecast range, with a 29% likelihood.
